What I’m Wearing: Python Print Baby

I LOVE animal print. You could even go as far as saying I’m obsessed. Animal-print shoes, bags, tops, dresses, you name it, I’ve got it baby.

I haven’t worn this particular skirt in a while so I figured I’d bust it out for the day.

Every time I pull this skirt on I’m reminded just how much I like it. It instantly makes me smile. The a-line cut is super flattering, it has a crazy python print and is pretty much multicoloured goodness. What more could you want in a skirt?

For me, absolutely nothing.

What I’m Wearing:
Skirt, Lavish Alice from ASOS
Vest, Topshop
Tee, ASOS
Necklace, Love Moi
Socks, Topshop
Boots, River Island
Watch, Michael Kors
Bracelet, Whistles

Just Plait My Hair and Call Me Heidi

Every single time I wear this skirt I feel like I’m channeling a milk maid. Maybe it’s the blue and white stripes or the fact that it flares out skater style, who knows. Just plait my hair and call me Heidi.

I admit this outfit looks like it was just shot at my body randomly from my wardrobe but I like it. It’s just a simple skater skirt, tee and my *cough* new *cough* kimono.

To justify spending any money I’m wearing this kimono with every single outfit. So, if we were working on a  cost-per-wear basis, it’s pretty much paid for itself.

It’s beautifully light, a relaxed over-size style and in the prettiest shade of pink. It’s so comfy it reminds me of being in my pyjamas, which is not a bad thing.

I couldn’t not have an action mid-twirl shot could I!

What I’m Wearing:
Tee, ASOS
Floral Kimono, ASOS
Skirt, Zara
Sandals, Zara
Necklace, Topshop
Leather cuff, Whistles
Watch, Michael Kors

Swinging Florals

Technically I wore this outfit yesterday but we’ll brush over those details and focus on how freaking cool this floral swing top is instead.

It’s beautifully oversized with nice long sleeves which I like. It’s a new summer staple of mine as it can be chucked on with jeans, cute denim shorts or dressed up with skirts.

It also lives up to its name and swings like a beauty. Watch it go…

Ohhhh yeah. Check out the volume on that. And the hair.

Life couldn’t get any better right now.

What I’m Wearing:
Floral swing tee, ASOS
Jeans, 7 For All Mankind
Sandals, Zara
Necklace, Topshop
Leather cuff, Whistles
Watch, Michael Kors

Does my hair look like a wig to you? I just got my roots did…

Is it a Bird, is it a Plane, Nope, it’s a Skort

I was lucky enough to have a Topshop voucher that was just begging to be spent and, seeing as I’m currently on a shopping ban, it was a great moment when I remembered I had it.

Luckily for me Topshop didn’t disappoint as I found this super-cute checked skort.

As soon as the sun came out I took this as the perfect opportunity to style them up.

I have a love hate relationship with shorts. I have a small waist but fairy expansive hips and thighs which the majority of shorts just weren’t made to fit. Apart from a few, these included.

I’ve paired them with a pale pink sleeveless shirt and River Island strapped wedges.

Do you dig the skort?

My Month in Pictures: Food, Friends and Fun Times

Apart from the fact that I’ve been skint the whole month, January hasn’t been too unkind to me. I’ve spent a lot of time eating, both healthy and fatty foods, seeing my besties and road testing all the new clothes and shoes I received for Christmas.

Take a look…

Jean Genie

This post is well overdue. In fact it’s actually about three months overdue now. In pregnancy terms I’d have probably exploded or something by now… Weird.

So if you read this post, you’ll know that way back in October I took a trip with Al, my dad and brother to Orlando. While we were there, I made it my mission to stock up on three essential items: trainers because my ones have holes in and they’re so expensive in the UK, M&M’s pretzel because they are the actual shit, and finally, jeans because I struggle to get them to fit my arse and thighs.

I hate jean shopping more than I hate the fact that nowhere in the UK sells M&M’s pretzel. Plus, what with us being in the homeland of denim, I figured I’d have a pretty good chance of finding at least one pair, right? Right. I got three.

This all happened to me in an outlet shopping mall near our apartment, in 7 for all Mankind. You see I tried Levi’s, I tried Diesel and both failed me. But 7 for all Mankind rescued me from complete jean devastation, hence the Jean Genie title of this very post.

I decided to ignore blue and black and go straight for colour. First up were these new-line khaki jeans complete with twisted gold zips, creating a seam up the front of the leg.

These are all a lot lower on the waist than I’d usually go for – I’m a fan of a high waisted as I have possibly the longest body in the world – but I always wear jeans with long tops which hides a multitude of sins and any possible pant exposure.

What I’m wearing:
Khaki jeans, 7 for all Mankind
Shirt, Philip Lim for Target (also picked up on holiday – God bless Lim)
Necklaces, Forever 21
Animal print Converse, Converse (another cheeky purchase – how could I not)

I also picked up these gorgeous wet-look red jeans. It was love at first fit.

I’ve turned them up at the ankle as I like my trousers short. Other than that, they are good to go. After a while they do get slightly baggy around the bum but I don’t care. I love them.

What I’m wearing:
Red wet-look jeans, 7 for all Mankind
Checked shirt, Forever 21
Necklaces, Forever 21
Boots, River Island

My final pair are sky blue, short legged and skinny. In fact I’m wearing them right now as I type this. However I’m a bad blogger and forgot to take pictures of them. My bad.

To sign off this post I thought I’d try something a little different… Thanks Bowie.

My Brand Spanking New Cookie Monster Coat

I have a lot in common with the Cookie Monster. In fact, I’ll start by naming three things right now.

1. We both like cookies
2. We both have a blue furry coat
3. We both act a muppet on a regular basis

For today’s purposes we’re going to focus on point two. My gorgeous new blue furry coat.

I originally featured this coat as my Want it on Wednesday at the end of November after seeing it in Topshop the weekend before with my mum. As soon as we both spotted it, I gravitated towards it and stroked it. I probably looked a muppet (see what I did there) but I’m afraid it’s just a basic instinct for me. After 10 minutes or so, I tried it on, fell in love and BAM, there was my mum’s Christmas prezzie to me sorted.

Usually I wear a size 10, sometimes a 12 in coats, as I have extremely broad shoulders. However, I actually got this coat in a size 8 as it’s super over-sized anyway. I find it hangs perfectly and due to the bright blue, brightens any outfit as well as generally cheering me up.

I’ve layered it with a maroon scarf of Al’s (I feel like it’s finally
time to use the not-so-new boys actual name) and this amazing
bling-bling beanie which a lovely friend of mine (thanks Char if you’re
reading) got me for my birthday.

Now, where are the god damn cookies. Me want cookies.

The Perfect Dress for a Spring Wedding

Let me take you on a little trip down memory lane, right back to January when I received this beautiful Warehouse dress. At the time I was saving it to wear to one of my best friends weddings and that wedding happened last Saturday.

I have to admit I was worried about how I could style this dress to make it feel more like me. If you’re an avid reader of my blog, you’ll have noticed how I prefer slouchy styles and even when I do attempt to dress up, I still always manage to look slightly ruffled. This was no different.

Dress, c/o Warehouse
Belt, Paul Smith
Necklace, a boutique in Australia
Watch, Michael Kors
Shoes, River Island

What I love about this dress though is it’s ability to flatter my curves. The sheer blue shoulders and back give it a delicate feel with the floral print adding a nice touch of subtle colour. I teamed it with a Paul Smith belt I had and the perfect purple heels, which just happened to match a few of the flowers on the dress. I kept my hair simple, pulling it back into a messy low bun.

The sun shone the entire day and I’ve never seen the beautiful bride look so happy. It really was beautiful. Me and two of my besties made the most of  the glorious weather and had as many pics taken of us together as possible.

That’s it for me and weddings this year. I’ve seen two of my best friends get married and my older cousin in a brilliant surprise ceremony. For me, weddings are really magical. Just seeing those two people making the ultimate commitment to each other feels like an incredibly special moment to share. Don’t get me wrong, it still completely freaks me out but I always feel totally honoured to have enjoyed that day with each of them.

Have you got any weddings coming up?

A Whole Lotta Animal Print

There’s nothing more I love in life than sequins, leather and leopard print. I feel like this post is my homage to Pat Butcher, the queen of all things leopard. My leopard-print covered icon.

This dress is an oldie but a goodie. It’s wheeled out of the wardrobe for occasions when I’m having a bad day or feeling a little bloated (I’m an IBS sufferer), it’s my equivalent of a security blanket.

These pics were taken before a girly meal. We went for an Italian so I
wanted to wear something that would accommodate a vast amount of garlic
bread, pizza and wine… and I succeeded.

I feel like I could write about this dress forever so forgive me if I ramble on a little.

The voluminous style you know I like, but when in this sheer fabric it still manages to have a sexy quality to it. There’s no skin on show but flashes of a silhouette I think can be sometimes be even more suggestive. It has a pleated front at the top of the bust so it hangs and moves beautifully. The sleeves billow out until they’re nipped in with tight cuffs. But, to me, the best part is the perfect leopard-print Peter Pan collar.

I’ve paired it with thick black tights, my cross necklace which I’ve blogged about previously here and some cute black ankle wedges that also have a leopard-print trim. It’s complete OTT but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I topped the look off with my Zara leopard print coat. Et voilà, Pat Butcher.

I’m sorry these pics are crappy. Am still taking them on my iPhone in front of my jumble-sale looking room!

Leather and Lace, Naughty and Nice

Leather is one of my favourite materials at the moment. I have leather skirts, jackets, a fairly new leather dress, sofa… I think you catch my drift. I’m obsessed.

It’s easy to wear, looks incredibly sexy and is wipe clean. What a bonus.

This dress below was an absolute sale bargain at £20 from Oasis. It was love at first sight.

I wore it a couple of weekends ago on a hen night out in Bristol and it had a great response from the girls.

It’s a very flattering cut, highlighting the shoulders with a lace panel that then runs down the centre of the chest. The skirt then flares out from the hips, which works well on my figure.

But that’s not even my favourite bit. Oh no. It’s all in the back detail.

 Dress, Oasis
Shoes, River Island
Watch, Michael Kors
Cuff, Whistles

This beautiful deep v is completely made of lace and if I do say so myself, has an incredible effect when paired with a full leather skirt.

Leather and lace is such a winning combination. It’s that blend of naughty and nice.
I know which side I fall on.
